About SugarOverkill

“SugarOverkill” comes from two combined words, “Sugar” refering to all things sweet, cute, bright and colorful and “Overkill” meaning excess, overdose and exaggerated. It’s mostly about cute creatures who are still lovable despite their wicked nature and are obsessed with sweets and junk food of all kind. SugarOverkill also has female characters who are dressed up in different street-style and Harajuku fashions while being elegant and sophisticated at the same time.

About the Artist

SugarOverkill is the brainchild of Michèle Liza Pelayre. She is a self-taught artist specializing in character design and vector illustration. Her love for the kawaii, punk and goth culture has led her to create her own line of original characters. One of her major influences is the Japanese pop culture and Harajuku style where she gets most of her inspiration from. While there are many Kawaii brands out there, she decided to create her own label as she wanted something which was both cute and dark at the same time.
